概要： President Tsai Ing-wen resigned as the head of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), taking responsibility for the crushing defeat in unified local elections in November. Chinese spokesperson commented the result showed mainstream Taiwanese public opinion, which seems to try to affect the 2024 presidential election. The lecture attempts to discuss possible future international affairs, addressing the questions of how the US will respond to the pro-independence orientation of the next leader of the DPP and
whether the weakening of the ruling DPP, which has been opposing China by strengthening U.S-Taiwan relations, will affect the balance of power in the Asia Pacific region.
